To use the Alerts, Favorites, Saved Searches, Recently Viewed, Watch Lists, and Shopping Cart you must register as a unique user to allow the application to identify you and keep track of your personal profile choices and purchases. If you try to use any of the features listed above and you have not registered, the application will prompt you to register as a unique user.
When you register as an individual or unique user, a cookie is placed on your computer with a minimal amount of information to identify you and remember your preferences the next time you log into the application with your personal username and password. If your cookies are deleted or you log in from a different machine, you do not have to re-register. The information you supplied is stored on the IHS Standards Expert server and you only have to click the >>Already registered? Log in ... link and enter your personal username and password. Once you do this, the information from your cookie is reset.
To register for the first time as a unique user:
Log in using your account username and password.
This is the username and password issued to your company by IHS when your
company first purchased the IHS Standards Expert product.
If you have not registered as a unique user, you are prompted to create
a user profile on the Registration
page. You only have to enter this information once.
Enter your first name, last name, and email address. If you would like to use your email address as your username, click on the Click to use Email as Username. The next field (Username) will then be populated with your email address.
Enter a password of your choice.
Re-enter the same password, and then click the Submit button.
The next time you use IHS Standards Expert, use your account username and password to log in. Your unique username and password is automatically "attached" so you do not have to enter two sets of usernames and passwords. For example, if your company account log in is CompanyXYZ (username) and rockies123 (password), which is the username and password you use to log in, the system automatically recognizes you as a registered individual tied to that "account" username and password. If you then try to add a document to your My Favorites list, for example, the system automatically references your personal profile information, which then allows you to add the document to your list.
